Choosing your first Astronomical Telescope
This sub pages in this section provide all the relevant information that the beginner looks for before making that all important decision of purchasing the telescope. In brief, I explain different types available to the amateur astronomer, mounting systems and so on.
Be warned that the information given is rather extensive. The reason behind this is that while I was employed at Opticstar Ltd, many customers walked in who were frustrated by their first telescope purchase. Typically the customers would purchase cheap (price and quality) telescopes from department stores (Walmart, ASDA, ALDI, LIDL, ARGOS) on ebay or someone would have gifted a really cheap quality telescope for Christmas or a Birthday.
I also put up my experiences in the field of Astrophotography in the sub page shown below. The guide for photographing the Moon, Planets or Deep Sky Objects like Galaxies, Nebulae or Star clusters are based on my own experiences over the years. In some sections I may refer to another author on whose methods mine may be based. If any reader notices any error or feels that I should have given credit to someone where I have not, they may please point that out to me.
